PP 014: 3 Must Listen to Podcasts To Elevate Your Creative Brand

These free resources I’m talking about are podcasts and they can change your life.
Two years ago, my wife turned me onto the podcast app that came with our iPhones. Music was my life at that moment in time and I thought podcasts were only listened to by snobby, sophisticated nerds who had no life…..I was a bit judgmental in those days.
Once my art began gaining attention, I changed my perspective quickly. I grew a strong desire to pursue my work more intentionally and build my brand. This led to a new addiction of podcasts once I saw the value they added to my life.
These days you can catch me filling every gap of my day with podcasts and audiobooks. I can learn something new every day during my job, showering, driving, etc.
Filling my time with targeted content has been monumental for my confidence and growth and I know it will for you too.
With that being said, I want to share my current top 3 podcasts for personal and business development along with marketing. There’s no doubt in my mind that they will help you elevate your creative brand as well.
1. Creative Pep Talk Podcast with Andy J. Miller
Man…..if there was ever a podcast that found me when I needed it the most it would be this one. Honestly, I wasn’t a fan of it when he started it a few years back—it was really hard to listen to.
After starting my own podcast, I understand that it’s difficult to be awesome when starting anything. The way to become great over time is just by starting in the first place.

I re-listened to him this past spring and he blew my mind. Not only does he love pizza as much as I do, but his quirky sense of humor and laid-back approach really elevates his honest advice on building your creative career. He has this magical way of blending metaphors and storytelling to paint a vivid picture that inspires action.
His “not taking himself so seriously” approach really helps me articulate my own thoughts and to not be so serious myself all the time.

2. The #AskGaryVee Show with Gary Vaynerchuk
I’d love to assume you know the iconic social juggernaut that is Gary Vaynerchuk, but assuming makes an ass of you and me. (I always love saying that)
I’m warning you in advance, he uses some pretty colorful language that turns off many people. If you can side-step some f-bombs, you can navigate and find gold in each episode.
The reason I find the show so valuable for creatives is because he gives you a real-time pulse of what’s going on in the world with social media and business marketing.
We live in a digital age and getting the inside scoop of what’s working, what isn’t and what’s coming in the future is a sure fire way to keep you ahead of the creative curve.
He’s got some killer books / audiobooks too that I suggest checking out.
3. Build a StoryBrand Podcast with Donald Miller
This past spring, I was struggling heavily with telling people what exactly it was that I do. That’s when the Build a StoryBrand Podcast landed in my lap.
This podcast is focused on clarifying and projecting your message in a noisy world.
Knowing your message with help you:
gain more traffic
convert more leads
make more sales for your growing brand
Each week, Donald Miller interviews some of the top influencers across the world. You get an inside look into how these people became successful as they share practical tips you can apply immediately.
Since I started listening, it’s helped me:
